EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
Hey peeps....are you here to know about embedded systems,if yes then you are at the right place.
let me tell you about my self first, I'am a 4th year electronics engineering student by choice, i have spent most of my quarantine time learning about microcontrollers and embedded systems.
I may not have complete knowledge about the embedded systems but i'm pretty sure that i have plenty of knowledge to give a brief overview into the EMBEDDED SYSTEMS world. this blog is for any one who has a keen intrest towards learning embedded no matter how good u are at studies and what ur GPA is, I try my best to keep it simple. So, what are you waiting for.....lets get started.
Embedded Systems
lets break down its terminology first, Embedded means something which is attatched within another thing.
for example, a diamond is embedded into a ring. In the same way embedded system is nothing but a system is embedded into something.
what is a system????
As per the defination a system is a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting net work to perform a task.for example, a watch is a time displaying system in which all of its components, mechanism follow a set of rules to show time. It is also important to note that in a system all of its subcomponents are inter dependent, which means if one of them stops working then the whole system is disturbed.
NOW LETS KNOW THE CHARACTERS OF THE EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
FUNCTIONING: an embedded system is mainly designed to perform a specific task, unlike the general purpose computers which can perform any task an embedded system can only perform a specific task for example a micro controller (embedded) in a washing machine can only perform tasks to wash cloths and it can not calculate numbers like a laptop or a calculator do
FORM FACTOR: The formfactor(size,power,..etc) on an embedded system is extreamly tight because if you have a huge system it cannot fit into a device like watches,if it does not have a low power consumption capability then it is not dependable and last bur not the least there should be compramise in the performance.
PERFORMANCE ON REAL TIME: Many embedded systems must continuosly react to the inputs or changes in the systems environment and must compute certain results in real time without any delay
for example let us consider a car traction controller;it continuosly reacts to the speed of motor and the breaking system it must perform acceleration or de-acceleration continuosly within a very limited time; a delay in such case can be a big problem.
MICROPROCESSORS: as the system should take desitions according to the inputs , It must have a microprocessor or a microcontroller
HARDWARE & SOfTWARE: Embedded system is a perfect balance between the hardware and the software, which means hardware is designed according to the software and software is programmed according to the hardware this solves the formfactor problems.
ADVANTAGES
1.Easily customizable
2.Low power consumption
3.Low coast
4.High performance
DISADVANTAGES
1.Efforts in development process
2.Large time to market
to be continued.....stay tuned for more.
